Genesee County residents are invited to participate in the 2011 Speak to Your Health! Community Survey.
The goals of the survey are to provide data to develop programs, inform policies, and generate resources; to identify and acknowledge community assets; to understand the relationships between residents’ health-related behaviors and perceptions, environmental conditions, and health outcomes; and to develop a more coordinated community health agenda.
The survey has been conducted in 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2009. Previous survey results have been used to help plan programs, support grant proposals, and to advocate for needed resources in the community, including the Genesee County Strategic Plan and the Genesee County Health Plan millage. The results of the 2011 survey will be presented to the community in 2012.
The Speak To Your Health! Community Survey is a collaborative effort. Representatives from the Prevention Research Center of Michigan, the Genesee County Health Department, Hurley Medical Center, Genesys Health System, Genesee County Community Mental Health, Flint Odyssey House, Inc. Health Awareness Center; YOUR Center; the Greater Flint Health Coalition, Genesee County Community Action Resource Department, the University of Michigan-Flint, and the University of Michigan School of Public Health all participate in the design of the survey.
The 2011 survey is funded by the Crim Fitness Foundation, Prevention Research Center of Michigan, and the Michigan Youth Violence Prevention Center.
