The UM Office of Research July newsletter features a moving and informative article, History of Violence, that highlights the YVPC and its associated project, Youth Empowerment Solutions (YES). The article includes results from a study that documented a reduction in assaults in the YVPC intervention area, and positive findings from the evaluation of a brief emergency department violence prevention program that was one of the YVPC initiatives. It also includes an interview with a young man from Flint who gives his account of how the YES program changed his perspective on his own city.
