The winners of the Safe and Healthy Futures Contest have been chosen!  We had 35 entries from the fifth and sixth grades at Doyle Ryder and Durant Tuuri Mott Schools  and three winners and three runner-ups were chosen. You can read the winners’ essays and see (and hear) their artwork on our Safe and Healthy Futures Contest page.   Many thanks to all of the students who entered.

From Durant-Tuuri-Mott Elementary, the winner is Amari Cooper with a song entitled “My Future Is Gonna Be Nice”. The runner up from Durant-Tuuri-Mott is Dayon Howell with an untitled unity themed song.From Doyle Ryder Elementary, the 5th grade winner is Sataria Grear with a drawing entitled “My Safe and Healthy Future”. The 5th grade runner up is Shariah Jenkins with a drawing entitled “Life”.  Also from Doyle Ryder Elementary, the 6th grade winner is Aaron Watson with a drawing entitled “My Future”.  The 6th grade runner up from Doyle Ryder Elementary is Antonio Brown with an untitled drawing.

Each winner received a $25 gift card, and runner ups will received a $15 gift card. Every child who entered received a MI-YVPC backpack and Commit to Fit water bottle from the Health Coalition.

Thanks  to the staff and teachers at Doyle Ryder and Durant Tuuri Mott Schools for their assistance carrying out the contest.
